Topographic Map

I really like the idea of studying "practical" objects used for purposes other than art as works of art, particularly when studying lines. While there is not much intricacy going on with the lines, they still give shape, direction, and movement to the piece.

The lines are very mechanical and to someone who can identify the image as a topographical map, informative. Otherwise it reminds me of a chinese ink drawing of clouds.

When I was drawing a deer in the nature lab I was struggling with getting the perspective right and I remembered seeing this so I made some topographical lines on its neck where it had this rounded form that stuck out, and it was incredibly helpful
